Ian J. Mise, is the founder and president of LeadingEdge Payroll Group Inc. LeadingEdge is recognized as Canada's only multi-dimensional payroll company. It's team of top industry experts provide a range of flexible payroll solutions, including consulting and implementation services, total outsourcing management, customized training and learning symposiums, research, subscription services and professional recruitment.

With more than 20 years experience in payroll, benefits, human resources and pensions administration, he is regarded by many across North America as Canada's foremost expert in payroll and related topics. An advocate of payroll best practices, new payroll technologies and Canadian compliance issues, he is frequently called upon as a consultant, speaker and author in these areas.

Prior to establishing LeadingEdge in 1996, Mr. Mise was the first full-time president of The Canadian Payroll Association (CPA). During his tenure, he led strategic growth initiatives that resulted in new training and education programs, a significant increase in membership and the establishment of the CPA as an international leader in payroll advocacy and education. He received an honorary lifetime membership from the CPA in 2000 in recognition of his long-standing contribution to the association. In 1993, he also received a Meritorious Service Award from the American Payroll Association.

His prior experience has included progressive management positions with Petro-Canada and Atomic Energy of Canada. He also was an editor and senior consultant to Carswell Thomson Professional Publishing for its payroll subscription manual and monthly payroll newsletter. In the late 1980's and early 1990's, Mr. Mise's professional expertise reinforced his effectiveness as a member of the board of governors for the CPA. He was the chairman of the association's Federal Government Relations Committee, leading the CPA towards increased influence with key federal government departments and served as volunteer chairman of the board from 1991 to 1992. During 1993-95, while President of the CPA, Mr. Mise co-chaired a government-sponsored task force to simplify and reform Canada's Employment Insurance Program. He continues to participate on a number of government committees and has been commissioned to write several studies and papers for the federal government pertaining to taxation fairness, administrative burden and compliance.

Mr. Mise is a member of the American Payroll Association, The Canadian Payroll Association, IHRIM and the Metropolitan Toronto Board of Trade.

With more than 25 years involvement in payroll and related areas, Mr. William’s extensive experience in strategic planning, organizational development and process re-engineering, combined with his strong accounting background, reinforce the leadership role he maintains on LeadingEdge’s management team.

Prior to joining LeadingEdge, Mr. Williams spent five years with The Canadian Payroll Association – first as vice-president and COO and then as executive director. During his tenure, the association doubled its revenues and membership. Previous to the CPA, Mr. Williams worked for 27 years in financial services for TransCanada PipeLines Limited, a large international energy company.

Prior to joining the CPA’s management, Mr. Williams served on its board of directors from 1988 to 1994, including as chairman in 1992-93. He received an honorary membership from the CPA in 2000 in recognition of his long-standing contribution to the association. He also served on three Revenue Canada committees, including the Southern Ontario and National Small Business Advisory Committees and the E-Commerce Technical Advisory Group for Taxpayer Simplicity. Mr. Williams has addressed conference delegates and students across North America in the areas of payroll and business. His views have also been published in trade journals in both Canada and the United States.

Mr. Williams’ reputation as an entrepreneur started in the early days of his career when, during the period of 1976 to 79, he founded and published a community newspaper in his home town of Richmond Hill, Ontario.
